April–October is the season; July and August are busiest and priciest. Spring and September are lovely and better value, while many lakeside hotels close in winter.
Como town usually has the widest choice and lower rates, and villages a little away from the famous central trio of Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio are often cheaper.
